SABS believes that language is at the heart of learning and acknowledges that language acquisition and development is crucial for exploring and sustaining cultural identity, personal development, and intercultural understanding. As a British International School, such concepts are closely linked to our mission to provide an education for international understanding.

SABS believes that students should be able to achieve the benefits of additive bilingualism i.e. acquiring a second language with little to no detriment to the development of their first language. This can be achieved when students maintain and develop their mother tongue in speaking, listening, reading and writing. Wherever feasible, SABS thus encourages students to study their mother tongue in addition to English, German or Chinese.

As English is the language of instruction, SABS recognises the need for a programme that enables students to achieve full competence in this language. At SABS, all members of the faculty recognise their role as language teachers and acknowledge their responsibility to respond creatively and purposefully to the challenges presented to them by a multilingual and multicultural classroom.

SABS believes that learning an additional language allows students to understand different cultures and perspectives and thus become responsible global citizens. Students deserve the opportunities to study additional languages, including the host country language, as appropriate.

SABS organizes Exchange programmes with Germany and Summer English Courses and Summer Football Courses in Ireland, opportunities from which the students benefit living unique experiences.

SABS also organizes International Assessment with School Years or Terms Abroad in Canada, USA, UK and Germany.

Cambridge

School of English (Cambridge)
The students who take part in this club increase their knowledge of English and practise the language or they are willing to prepare Cambridge University official exams.

SABS is an official Cambridge Examiner Centre so the students can sit the exams at the school.

The classes are small from a minimum of 8 students to a maximum of 12. Students attend these lessons twice a week (50 minute sessions). The groups are organised according to the level of English of the students. They usually start the first Monday of September and finish the last Thursday of May, unless they sit an exam in September or October.

English for parents
This programme is focused on developing the speaking and listening skills. It is designed for adults who would like to improve their use of English.

These lessons are informal. The timetable is agreed by the adults and the teachers availability.

Fees, Timetable and Teachers

Fees are €70.00/month. A term fee is optional and it is 175.00€.
SABS teachers are the teachers for these lessons.
The students are informed about their groups, timetables and teachers at the end of September.
The youngest students are collected by their teachers in their classrooms, at the canteen or in the playground during the first month.

Why learn English Cultural Exchange?

This activity is open to children who wish to participate in a cultural exchange with a School in the U.K.

Children will spend the Autumn term getting to know their exchange student by writing to them in both English and Spanish. They will receive replies and be able to have digital meetings to get to know the students through our Twin school in the U.K.

In the Spring/Summer term pupils from SABS will visit the school in the U.K on a 5 day exchange and pupils from our twin school will visit Spain staying at each other’s family homes, attending school and cultural trips. There is no cost to joining this club, other than the deposit for the cost of travel to U.K. The trip is at cost price.

This activity is available for children in Secondary.

Why learn ANOTHER language?

Learning a language is an investment in the future. It has the potential to open many opportunities up. Learning a language when younger is an advantage as children do not have the fear of making a mistake which adults do, and they are free with their experimentation in use of language. At SABS we offer Extra- curricular German, Chinese and English for those who are new to the language.

This activity is available to years

What we do

Our cultural and educational programmes encourage intercultural dialogue and enable cultural involvement. They strengthen the development of structures in civil society and foster worldwide mobility.
In our language and education work, we are focusing particularly on expanding our activities in British education policy by highlighting the advantages of learning German for a successful career. We are also extending our reach through new language course locations and online learning.

Our cultural programme includes film screenings, panel discussions and talks, as well as collaborations with partners on the local culture scene.

Our cultural programme includes practical, communicative, fun classes for the Little ones and preparation for offical exams for Secondary and adults.

SABS also participates in a Exchange programme with a German Seconday School, a unique experience in our students´lives.
